Believe it or not, it’s been a crazy year, though I may have been quite on the felting front. 2017 has been a year where I’ve learnt an awful lot about myself, that’s for sure. I’ve changed day job, and channeled so much of my energy into writing Bone Ovation, and then a second poetry collection, due out next year or so.
I’ve discovered (even over this Christmas break!) that I’m not happy if I’m not creating, it’s as simple as that. I had a few days off over Christmas to eat, drink, and revel in the festivities but very quickly I became unsettled and really out of sorts. When I sat down to make something and do a bit of writing, the mists cleared, and I felt like myself again. It was a relief to be able to solve my mental malady so quickly, and it just confirms that it’s the way I connect with people.
I’ve done some felting too – though the etsy shop is still in holiday mode, I’ve been doing a few custom orders here and there, and it’s been lovely to receive those messages and emails. Some followers have also contacted me to check if I’m ok, since the shop has been quiet, and yes – I’m fine! But it’s been touching to hear from so many of you. Thank you!
So, 2018? Well, I have a lot of author work to do, and I’ll still be felting and knitting as much as I can. I still plan to conquer crochet – that turned out to not be a battle for 2017 after all. 🙂 For some reason it’s a skill that I still can’t master. But once I do – look out for some crochet creations next. I already know what I want to do! If any of you have taught yourselves and have used YouTube tutorials, please send the links my way. I’d love to see some that have helped you!
I hope all of the hundreds of felted creatures I’ve shipped out to the world are doing well, as are their owners, and I wish you all so much happiness and health for 2018.
